FAQ
Do you work at a school?

Yes, in addition to private tutoring I currently work part-time with:

-
Grace Church School - In-school math/physics tutor and substitute teacher
-
The Brearley School - After-school math tutor
-
Prep for Prep - Summer Enrichment math instructor

Do you tutor other subjects besides math?

Math is the subject I know inside and out, with 15 years of experience under my belt tutoring Geometry up through BC Calculus. There are other subjects with which I am familiar enough to consider on a case-by-case basis (especially if combined with math) including Physics, Writing, History, Literature and French.

As a freelance harpsichordist, music is my other area of expertise (Western theory and history). I almost never have the opportunity to tutor music but would jump at the chance!

Do you tutor for standardized tests?

Yes, the whole gamut - SAT, ACT, GRE, ISEE, SSAT, SHSAT.

What ages do you tutor?

I work mainly with 7th-12th graders and college undergraduates. I will most likely decline to consider elementary school students.

Do you tutor remotely or in person?

Both! I am equipped with a tablet and stylus, allowing me to write legibly on Zoom via the whiteboard feature or a shared screen. However, it is usually not possible on Zoom for me to see what the student is writing, and I consider this to be a significant disadvantage of tutoring remotely.

In-person meetings can take place at your home or another mutually convenient location. You can rest assured that I have been vaccinated and boosted for COVID-19.

What are your rates?

My rates are different for in-person and Zoom tutoring, and location may also be a factor. Please contact me for details. I'll be happy to schedule a free consultation over the phone or on Zoom.

How did you get into math tutoring?

As a college student at the University of Rochester I double-majored in music and mathematics. There I developed a passion for tutoring when I signed on as a "peer tutor", helping other undergraduates with their math courses - mainly the much-dreaded Calculus class required of most science majors. Tutoring later proved to be a great side gig as I pursued graduate studies in music at Stony Brook University and Juilliard. Currently, I reside on the Upper West Side and balance my musical activities with private tutoring.

Do you have references or a resume?

Yes, please contact me to request either.

Dark chocolate or milk chocolate?

Dark chocolate is objectively superior, though I know many wonderful people who prefer milk.
